Homemade Pecan Pralines

Pecan Pralines

Melt in your mouth sugary goodness. Nothing beats a really good praline. These are super easy to make, with only 5 ingredients. But be sure to get out your candy thermometer, it is critical to bring the mixture up to temperature, to ensure a smooth texture and that the pralines set.

I toasted the pecans first, to give them more flavor.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
2 Tbsp Butter, salted
1 cup Pecan halves, toasted

METHOD
Toast your pecans on 325 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Set aside.
With a wooden spoon, stir the sugars and cream together in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
When the temperature reaches 230 degrees, add the butter and pecans.
Continue stirring until the butter is melted and the temperature reaches 236 degrees.
Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes.
Beat the mixture with a wooden spoon until the praline mixture coats the pecans.
Drop the pralines onto a silpat or well-greased baking sheet, or piece of foil, one tablespoon at a time.
Do this quickly, as the mixture will begin to harden.
Allow pralines to cool.
Enjoy!

NOTE:  If you want to make bite-size pralines, just used chopped pecans.

    • Hi Ally ~ I love walnuts and I’m sure they’ll be delicious! Next time I make them I’m gonna chop up the nuts. And the next time may be very soon… we only have one left!
